    You seem to have a strange idea about the 'power ' of political parties Howard.

    If UKIP have made a decision not to put up a candidate in an election there is no reason why a member of that party should not stand as an independent without party support in that election.

    Quite reasonable and while I cannot speak for UKIP this would not be a problem for the Conservatives. If standing in an election against the party of which you are a member then you have another story.
