22:1876646No jokes please I am being deadly serious
I am considering the possibility of getting a stair lift so my partner does not need to negotiate the stairs from the first to the ground floor and I wondered if anyone on here had any experience with getting one or could recommend a supplier.
I have found a firm that will rent them for a deposit and a comparatively small sum a week and also one that will buy the chair lift back when you no longer need it.

22:2176647my aged neighbour had a stannah fitted, the only problem encountered with installation was that low energy light bulbs were operative in the house.
don't ask me why, but it caused a problem.
once the old fashioned bulbs were put back in everything worked o.k.

22:2776648My daughter-in-law got hers from Ebay and my son installed it, you might find that could be a better option rather than renting.
I wonder why the low energy bulbs were a problem, very odd.

22:4076650Possibly the stairlift draws a lot of power and low energy bulbs are sensitive to power drops.
Been nice knowing you :)

23:0576652John Glass is an ex Stannah engineer, now independent, advertises in the local newsletters as Lydden Lifts - 01304 825534. He's a decent bloke who will give professional advice.

07:5776665There is a department at DDC where help can be given on the adaptions, practicalities and financing them.
I know a chap who had one fitted - call the (District) Council Ross (821199) and explain what you want and they'll help I'm sure.

08:5576678Recontitioned stairlifts are a cheaper option then new and just as good if a reputable guy installs them. Good luck with the serach and with the persuading, Ross - my guess is the persuading will be the biggest challenge............but stairlifts are a Godsend.
