Every year there are no buses on Christmas day, Boxing day and New years day in or out of Dover and Deal. However other parts of East Kent have services running on Boxing day and to a lesser extent New Years day, Canterbury/Herne bay, Canterbury/Margate, the Thanet Loop and Folkestone and Hythe/Canterbury.

Checking around all the major shops and popular restaurants will be open on Boxing day but for staff and potential customers without their own transport that will mean nothing.

The only ones on New Year's Day are those on KCC Contracts which specify running on that day - there are none in this area. The Thanet Loop has run on Boxing Day, mainly to serve Westwood Cross, for a couple of years now. The others are experimental this year. Perhaps if they are a success we may see more next year. After all, Dover Depot has to be open for the National Express coaches.
Incidentally, there is a very limited NatEx service on Christmas Day, but not run by Stagecoach.

All the shops will be open on Boxing day and New Years day, whether many of the staff get in with no local public transport is the question.

Bonanza for the taxi and private hire companies! No rail on Boxing Day either except between Ashford and St Pancras.
