13:5885602I feel i must air my disappointment in the service that they are running, letting down their passengers again , the drivers are running when they want and only going to the hospital and back down which is no good for families with kids or the elderly. But as its only St Rads i guess we dont matter.

14:1385611no bus service where i live, i don't expect one.
the roads are untreated and dangerous, this is evidenced by the swerving cars.
this morning a sainsbury's vehicle made the unwise move of trying to deliver up here, gave up in the end and rolled back towards the folkestone road.
i doubt there are bus services in parts of river and whitfield.

14:2185618the same reason most other western european countries are having the same difficulties.
until last winter i cannot remember a really bad winter since i was a kid.
it is freak weather, a football game in italy was snowed off yesterday.

14:5285630It simply isn't economically viable for organisations and companies to spend out on contingencies when it doesn't happen very often. Colder countries do, because it happens more often and is more severe - the UK, apparently, just doesn't merit the expense. I will point out that isn't my personal view, but the overall view of many companies.

16:0585644Bern is 100% right.
Philip Hammond has commissioned a review into whether the UK should spend more to prepare for adverse weather on the basis if the last couple of winters are going to become the norm, thanks to global warming (!!), maybe we need to increase levels of preparedness. This would mean buying a lot of specialised snow ploughs etc.
As always there is a balance to strike between cost and benefit. If our weaher is changing long term then we need to do something different. issues of driver training etc also will apply.

16:1685648having witnessed the wheel spin in my road due to the recent conditions, it must be time that people invested in winter tyres.
as long as they are stored somewhere dry the rest of the year then they will last a fair time.

17:4585683Well I have been into town on the 60 1.05pm via St Radigunds no problems at all .I looked up their information site and it was running via the usual route .The buses are not going via The Ridgeway .I think Hillside needed more grit .
I think the Drivers do an excellent job .Isnt your brother in law one Mel .
Dont forget they too have to get into the Depot .

18:5785695up where i live the cry is always "what will happen when an emergency service vehicle wants to get through" in response to the lousy parking.
about an hour ago a car could not turn into clarendon street because of a badly parked ambulance.
a queue built up until the paramedic moved his ambulance.
then the best bit, a lady was taken out of the ambulance put in a wheel chair and pushed up the hill in the middle of the road towards westbury road.
with cars following close by it must have been a very undignified experience for the patient.

18:5885696that is impressive jan, if a driver has managed to get to work then get a bus moving at 6.45 am, that shows a devotion to duty.
