Quite right Sue. I am by no means a 'believer' in any kind of relgion but I do consider Sunday campaigning to be counter productive and never did do it, certainly not canvassing, though a few leaflet deliveries are OK as long as it is minimal. When you are fighting an election you need a day a week to catch your breath, recharge your batteries and reflect on the previous weeks efforts. You need to keep on top of your game and with electioneering being an exhausting activity at the best of times, you need to take some time out to rest.

We had no more than three canvassers in the old days of Barton Ward (two Conservative candidates plus one 'old hand') with well over 3,000 electors to get around we managed as close to a 100% canvass as it is possible to get. Those were the days!
