All that is required to stand at a Town Council election is the signatures of two residents on the electoral roll (for District it needs ten names). No deposit is required and leaflets can cost anything from 200 pound up, depending on how fancy you want them. All election leaflets should carry the name and contact details of the election agent (which can be the candidate) and should also bear the details of the printer. Photocopied sheets just saying 'vote for me' are not really acceptable and I am not certain they are even legal.
