It's been and gone now and virtually without a murmur.
I flew my flag of St George and had a slap up, full English breakfast, which is now something of a tradition in Tilmanstone Village Hall to.
Did anyone else do anything to mark the day?

As a Scot, I too was disappointed in the show around here (Hackney). True, the local (high) C of E church had the flag up on a windless day, but no other sign did I see.
I know from these pages that you did have bunting/flags up along (was it) George Street.
Time was when carrying a London Evening Standard would get you a free pint, but no more.
It is something of a shame.

Mark,
The Dover branch of the Royal Society of St George (patron HM The Queen) attended the Zeebrugge ceremony at St James's cemetery (details on that thread) and various hostelries afterwards, and many local pubs had events on throughout the day.
We would usually follow this with a church service at St Mary in Castro on the first Sunday following the 23rd, and afterwards a Sunday lunch of roast beef, but as this year it clashes with Easter Sunday and other events it will now be on 8th May. All are welcome for the 10am service and entrance to the castle is free for attendants.
Email me (or anyone else) if you would like details of the lunch or membership (just £15pa and we raise money for local charities with our events)

Blakes in Castle Street put on a real St.Georges Day celebration lunch - it was full up and everyone enjoyed Peter and Kathryn's cooking.
The Yacht Club had a St. Georges day dinner in the evening, so some places do put on a do.

I didn't know that Terry, I assumed that you booked your place and paid your money.

Been there after the midday ding dong at the town hall for the past five years Roger. Was a sort of tradition. Wasn't allowed this year though, only toffs. Didn't want to sit near Charlie anyway!

I put a Saint George card up in my room last April: There is no land like England.
It remained standing at its place and is there to this day!

It was indeed a good brunch/breakfast at Tilmanstone, Mark, I believe it raised over £400 for a scouting charity. Increasing numbers every year..

Not just invited guests Terry, limited number of places (23) and first to book and pay gets the seat.
