Spring flowering bulbs.
- 10 October 2011 20:12130755about last thursday i planted some bulbs in a pot.
the instructions clearly said plant between september and december and they will flower in march/april.
as you can see 4 days later some have germinated, surely any frost would kill them off?

nature in general seems confused, the spiders don't know if they are coming or going. - 10 October 2011 20:23130760They will not die off in the cold ,or the frost.I have over 20pots out with bulbs in them some are coming up.but I will not cover them or put in the green house, they will be Ok over the winter weeks even if it snows.

you have planted the bulbs too near the surface....
They need to be further down in the pot....only my opinion
- 10 October 2011 21:31130776you are as right as ever mr norman, it was all fresh compost so when the rain came it pushed the compost down leaving the bulbs exposed.
i have this very afternoon replenished the tub with further compost.
trust you will sleep well in that certain knowledge.
