I can understand the sentiment, but the Government take the money (road-tax) and KCC fill the pot-holes.

what i have never understood is that it is called road fund licence then just goes into a general pot with all the other taxes collected.
people would be happier if it was rig fenced for roads.

They would indeed Howard, we'd have much better roads all round if that was the case.
It's not possible to keep budgets separate - road fund licence and petrol tax etc. for maintaining roads etc., National Insurance to pay for the Health Service etc. Income tax to pay for the Welfare System; Fines for the Police and so on and so on.

Why is it not possible? They know how much is raised by each sector or they could not produce a balancing (or not

) budget.
