    Yes they are set at a government level, but they are as you say guidelines. If decisions could be absolutely objective then there would be no need for decisions to go to commitee, or appeals to the planning inspectorate for that matter. On top of this conservation issues can be specific to one town, as a result requiring interpretation, something that tests competence.

    I think where people live does matter, as you say some of these decisions would not be allowed in neighbouring towns. Sandwich obviously get a huge amount of consideration due to the historic nature of the town. But Deal also seems to get more sensitivity when decisions are made.

    What I am questioning is the ability of the our council to form forward planning decisions, when small ones are dealt with so poorly.
