I do not intend to upset anybody with the following comment.
There is only one reason I can think of for councillors or anybody else to be against the idea and that is they drop litter themselves.
At £30 to £50 a go (£75 in Maidstone) they would collect more than enough to pay wages and expenses per day. If the litter dropping ceases (fat chance) they can cut the number of jobs down.
Litter is chewing gum, dog mess, fast food wrapper, cigarette ends, beer cans and anything else you can think of that should not be there. I should think Pencester and the main shopping area alone would provide enough revenue.
