Spitfire!

  A great Spitfire picture is now showing on our frontpage in tip top pole position. I think its exceptionally good because it shows the Spitfire over its own real home...the White Cliffs of Dover. The knack is taking the picture from above so that you can place the plane in its home surroundings, of course not everyone can do this without wings. Joyce Banks managed to sprout wings, of sorts, to climb above the Spitfire to get the terrific shot.
  
  This pic is featured at the top of the Dover War Memorial projects latest Quarterly Newsletter. I saw it and asked Maggie to send it over...and here we are...its now on our frontpage too, in full size with more added details on the frontpage.

  The white cliffs, the sea, the fields and lighthouse and the evocative spitfire all in this one wonderful picture.

  For the anoraks, the Spit looks like a Mk Vb, the cannons show clearly as do the style of exhausts ruling out a Mk IX. A brilliant shot of what was the classic Spit airframe.

  Can I say how jealous I am of Joyce, getting to fly alongside such a superb icon. Congratulations on the photo Joyce, great work.
  Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

  there is a shop on the london road with model spitfires in their window, i am pretty sure that mk vb is one of them.

  Howard, Turners, when a kid I bought all my models and stuff from there. Would be nice to frequent it now but the range is too narrow, Humbrol is what they have for a lot of the consumables used and I have moved on to better products than them so have to resort to the internet for my Vallejo and Mr products.
