Interestingly tonight my previous comments in recent meetings was the taxpayers cost of using as a retainer only, for specialist only advice.
Gordon Cowan the chair of finance was clear that(in his words) 95% of the press releases could have been done in house.
The practice of sending info to a private specialist company to then send out is crazy and a waste of taxpayers dosh.
It was correct to obtain 3 quotes for a firm to act on a retainer
In Gordons report he was clear;
This will
Keep costs low
external advisors can be called only when needed rather than sitting in our offices waiting for work to arise.
Also important to review the provision of specialist support services at regular intervals to ensure the supply /requirements match the councils needs and that good value is being obtained
Once received to use as and when required in consultation with the mayor and chair of finance

Well done Gordon, one of the few councillors at town, district and county level that doesn't take the easy way out by letting things ride, but speaks up over issues when he sees things as wrong.
We will have to wait and see whether the new intake have more gumption than the present lot and will take no nonsense from the Town Clerk.

Yes Howard
Even Gordon and I dont always agree but we find common ground and probably share the same beliefs 97% of the time
the small 3% or so
still waiting for data protection and why it was used(and promised to be produced) not able to publicise clerks wages
obviously this info wasn't correct as we see the DDC chief exec wages in the press last week
no wonder I didn't get any confirmation on this
And giving the mayor the power to suspend for 6 months cllrs
two areas we don't agree on
but like i say we usually find common ground on most things.
Gordon was in front line of saving the 68 bus to Maxton
we don't hear from our 2 county cllrs now.
Tonight again Gordon stood up to the clerk
But howard, sadly one of my many reasons for not standing is that there wont be much change on DTC is that to many sit on there hands or don't really know procedures
but May 2nd soon here
and may 3rd all will be revealed lol
winners and also rans lol

At long last a little bit of common sense on show, I just hope this happens.
