looking at most of the kids they would still only be in their sixties today, hopefully one of them will look in and recognise themselves.

A lot of happy faces pictured, innocent times, amazing only 5 years after the end of the second world war, a bygone age.

i bet they didn't have much in the way of goodies at the party, rationing was still on for another year.
anyway getting back to the cherubs in the photo that little boy slightly right of centre next to the tall girl intrigues me.
a) is he about to or just broken wind?
b) there is something about him that reminds me of mr nunn.

Seeboard Christmas Party
"Over 100 children of members of the Dover SEEB Social and Sports Club were present on Saturday in the Garden Hall at the Christmas party at which the Kent Managers Mr H Knell and his wife presided. Full festive tables were prepared by wives and members of the club for tea. This was followed by games under the direction of Messrs Johnson and Todhunter, a film show and the entry of, and distributions of presents from, the Christmas Tree by Father Christmas (Mr A Roberts of the Drawing Office)
With the floor cleared, there was a social and dance to music by the Emperors Dance Orchestra. A vote of thanks was passed to the Committee, the ladies, and the MC (Mr Todhunter) for a very successful occasion"

And the tall kid by Santa's right hand looks like DT1 although we are at least a generation out?!

there is a rather bossy looking girl sitting down on the right, for some reason our council chairman springs to mind.

Howard - Not me. I did go to a party at that time in the former hall at the bottom of Peter Street. I think my brother had a picture but when I enquired a couple of years ago he said that he had lost them.
Nathan - Which side of the family?
There is a lady that looks familiar:-

The hall I referred to by the way was a former Methodist Chapel. Prior to it's demolition for the Engineering Works expansion it was used as a store for the water company.

It's a bit of a misnomer. It was the "Garden Hall" in Cherry Tree Avenue. The site is now ALDI. Oddly enough although the picture is about SEE Board it was used by the Women's Gas Federation for many years. SE Gas Board had their garage next to it which backed on to George Thomas's stores.
