must be, we have a great castle and seafront, a great piece of modern architecture in the form of the seasports centre, 3 or 4 fine restaurants and a couple of high quality hotels.
deal town and seafront is a delight and st margaret's bay is quite stunning.
as for stunning walking country!!
i am sure other members can list all the ones i could not think of straight away

I believe Paul hit it on the nail - you have to enter to be considered, it is quite possible that none of our attractions/guest houses/hotels entered.
The Tourism South East awards run by Visit Britain are the normal industry awards and all attractions and guest houses etc. know of that.

Ha! Slightly off the main topic here but As I read this post it brought my mind back to an event to last night. It was about 18:00 And I happened upon a group of French people in a car very lost near the western docks. They were early for their ferry and looking for the town centre 'for something to do'. As I had a vehicle I told them to follow me and took them to Stembrook car park. I then pulled away immediately regretting taking them there as what a dissapointment they must have found! I can honestly say I am embarrassed for our town centre when it comes to tourists. It has so much potential but nothing going for it. As I've said before we have three great sites in Dover; the seafront, castle and White cliffs experience (which I see is free parking now). But where is the link between the three? Especially between the castle an cliffs, no safe walking route, simply unexceptable.

I agree Helen that the Town Centre needs serious work; this has been/is discussed on other (current) threads.
Not sure what you mean by the White Cliffs Experience, that attraction closed some years ago - do you mean the actual White/Langdon Cliffs and the walks and views from there ?

I feel moved to point out that if the castle had been built so as to facilitate easy pedestrian access in all directions, it would have not been much use as a defensive fortification!!!!!!!!
