Many still don't now.
The question you mention has not been either answered or explained by any scientist.
Namely: how did atoms evolve into organic cells?
(In fact, they didn't.)
Many people are not aware how the evolution theory is as prone as a sieve to being water-tight.
As for your assertion that you don't need knowledge of Greek and Latin terms to understand genetics and "evolution" (the speech marks are mine), I'm afraid you do!
The vast majority of people do not understand most Greek words present in genetic science.
That's part of the trick to make them believe everything.
By the way, Ray, I've noticed you haven't even supplied any link, let alone an explanation, to the question "how did atoms evolve into organic cells?".
Because you know there is no answer.
