It's disconcerting that folk find it necessary to create a group such as this one. They're not moaners - they just care about the town and how it appears. DDC haven't seemed to be worried about that for such a long time. The villages are where their main vote lies and boundary changes will only consolidate that. Why care about the town centre? There's always DHB, DTC and Love Dover - what have we got to worry about?

One of the things that shocked me a lot was seeing those photos of the ruins of St James church which included human excrement. But hey ho we have the clean and tidy new shopping centre nearby

Does anyone actually formally complain/report litter etc to DDC?
Or
Do they just post on social media?
Please ensure you formally report any instance of litter etc. then DDC have to deal with it.
Regarding the old co-op once the lease is agreed between Big Local and DDC we will ensure that the site is clean and tidy

When I report fly tipping or a bag left out that has split open I e mail Waste services and it is normally cleared the following working day.

#4 Indeed Ross. But how many times must it be reported before the cause of the trouble is dealt with? I regularly walk along the Dour from Pencester to Stembrook because of the relocation of M&S and because I no longer drive into town. It should be a beautiful walk. Intrinsically it is a beautiful walk. However, if it's not populated on both benches by drunkards then the residue of their beer cans and fag butts is ever present as a deterrent eyesore. I really don't care about the fag butt police. OK - I'm selfish I gave up smoking sometime ago but surely there is more social benefit in tacking the real litter problems than dealing with a dropped fag end somewhere?
I wish you well with your venture with the old Co-Op site.
I also hope you can use whatever influence you have to and the other local authorities to look at their priorities.
