DOV/14/00053
Change of use of land to continue to hold a market for
a maximum number of 40 market stalls every Tuesday
and Saturday 8am-5pm; and application to hold a market
for a maximum number of 40 market stalls on any day of
the week 8am-5pm (limited to a maximum of 2 per week).
DOV/13/01098 Outline application for the erection of 15 flats
Studio 1, Adrian Street, Dover, CT17 9AT
As I'm on the Planning Committee, I shouldn't make a comment about these, but if the market can expand for up to 40 stalls and the option for Tuesday and Saturday, perhaps the Town Team are going to employ a market manager to go out and bring in new stalls to Dover.
If Studio 1 is converted to flats, this will mean Dover doesn't have a night-club - but does this matter ?

the residents of adrian street will be over the moon roger, be assured of that after what they have had to put up with over the years.
where would the proposed new market be?

Agree with the above post it was in the wrong place to start with.If the rebuild of Dover goes ahead there will be room for a real good night club, and I woul;d not be against it but it must be run as a real club.So we can go along with our wifes knowing we are going to have a good night out without geting into a fight.

we will have to make alternative arrangements brian.
getting back to the market it will still be in the same place, not sure why a change of use is applied for.
the application is for up to 40 stalls i doubt there is any expectation of that being needed in the immediate future, a bit like a pub or restaurant applying for long licensing hours but just using some of them.
if the market does continue to grow they won't hsve to keep going back and lodging new planning applications.

I must be honest, I thought the previous (extant) PP was for up to 40 stalls, maybe it's the Tuesday & Saturday that's new. A new Market Manager would be able to generate much more business for the Town Team and of course, more money to do things with.

I am not a huge fan of a night club, but with rivals closed down, where are the people going for their usual wiggle dances?
I think its important to have a balance of these things even if I dont like it, but still needs to be considered for the majority. Is there any other way for a new nightclub for the wigglers?
Dont just throw this away and forget about it. Its not an answer. there need to be an alternative.
