  Forget the Hunt Ball, Glyndebourne, Henley and Royal Ascot, for the small sum of £35 you can see the Mayor's ball. Best get in early as once news gets around black market prices will be astronomical.

  With all due respect you seem to have misread the light hearted nature of the thread Stu. I thought the old joke about the " Mayor's ball" would have indicated that.
  
  Moving on I am sure you are aware that Town Councillors elect one of their own to be Mayor, not someone from the public.

  This my point Howard. People are all to quick to slate the Town Council. So why not join the Town council and you too can have a input toward bring Dover forward and maybe you could become Mayor one day. This what makes me laugh people slate the Town council but never wish to stand and help.

  I am indebted to the confidence you have in me Stu but I can never be a Town Councillor for the following reasons.
  
  a) No-one would vote for me as I am not a member of a political party, Independents like Keith and Neil can succeed as they were born here and spent their lives being known to people in town.
  
  b) I would never allow someone unelected to tell me how to go about things.
  
  c) I am not arrogant enough to think I would bring added value to the council chamber.
  
  d) Endless meetings quite frankly bore the bottom off of me(sorry to be crude).
  
  I will probably have further things to add later.

  Agree with you Howard in my case I am way to old to put up with all the daft red tape, I also know my limitations.
  
  I would want to virtually make a clean sweep of the top offices so I could run the place the way I would like without interference. In other words I would like to be a mini dictator which is something that would not go down very well.
