    ROGER
    Cameron does do the same, but let me just answer the labour side;

    I do not, and will not support the moves by the labour party to plant women in position just to get an even balance.

    It Is sad things have to be done this way because of men's attitude towards women(some)and Sid's comments on lesbians illistrates his view and explains all.

    Let me take you back to the KCC elections 6 years ago in Dover,
    I got to find out the then county group leader(labour) decided to put the 2 dover seats candidates up as women only could stand.
    totally stupid, you may recall myself and bill newman there at that time
    majority over 2,000
    to put an unknown in, and someone that may not even have the ability would have been wrong.
    I went to the regional labour party, and argued my case there making many enemies but that didnt matter, nd it was surprizing how suddenly all these women(and some men) forgot about democracy and instead wanting these women imposed.

    After a lot of talking locally and regionally i was ready to campaign against this move but at the last minute they backed down.

    It's my clear view that I won't ever vote for someone imposed on me, whether thats MP, Council or wherever.

    I did find out in discussions that in fact thew national party was only giving advice and thats all it was, advice that they would LIKE to see 50% women in labour groups, its like lots of things you like to advise on.

    With this advice you can take it or leave it, sadly some more locally found it a way to get rid of 2 rebels
    but they hadnt counted on the support those 2 had.

    Anyway, its wrong.
    Im for supporting more women in politics, and have in the past and will in the future fight for women, b ut imposing the wrong way, many labour women were offended by that move to as they wanted to get selected by ability.
