  i am really astonished that there were womens football teams in those days.
  
  quite a fierce looking bunch, mind you nobody used to smile for photos in those days.

  I think they became quite popular in the 1920s. Not that I remember it.

  Good one Paul , but did they have an offside rule back then. I wonder if they had to play in those hats.

  Howard following your suggestion I have tried to contact the aformentioned pillars of society this morning.
  
  Alas Mr Keys has gone awol...was seen leaving in a fast car murmuring tomes of disenchantment over life, the universe, and everything in between...and sobbing openly about the loss of his Sky contract.
  
  Andy Gray on the other hand was available and wants to know if we can fix him up, off mike, with the long limbed centre forward in the above shot. I tried to explain to him that the picture was taken in 1922 or 1923 but it didnt put him off in the slightest...

  I wonder what the ladies would say about £50 million pounds being spent for one player. In Spain and Germany their highest trnsfer price in Jan was £12 & £6 million respectively.
