The Scots, as is in Celtic tradition, chose to respect and love Nature.
Scotland is beating a path towards Prosperity, and no doubt there will be a shift in transport strategy in Scotland, merging on transport of freight by rail, and electric buses, with a railway connection all the way from the Wall to Western Docks in Dover to transport freight by rail in place of road transport.
I think the House of Parliament in London forgot about the carbon emission laws, or decided that transport by road brings in more money to the Treasury by way of petrol tax.
It's time England followed Scotland's footsteps.
Scotland's energy plans are light years ahead of England's, it's time someone rattled the Department for Transport awake in London!

Alex, have you checked on the progress on Edinburgh's tram system lately? The delays and disruption it has caused to the city's traffic have more than offset any energy saving for years to even come before a truncated system is anywhere near being finished.

Ray, it takes time to combat the infestations of urban traffic, but eventually clean public transport will prevail, and the stench of the Industrial Revolution will fail.
Scotland has taken the path to a healthy prosperous future, and the Scots will never be deterred on this. All the Scottish parties are united in the effort. Why should the Scots pay up huge amounts of money on Osborne's petrol taxes and fling it over the Wall?

The bulk of Scotland's petrol revenues ends up in the London Treasury anyway, once it's been taxed!

Alex, it's still the UK's oil revenues at present, and under the Barnett formula they effectively get to see more of it than we do.

Either way, Ray, it doesn't change anything with regards to Scottish clean energy planning. It's not about money, but a way of life to preserve Nature.

Scottish clean energy planning, I've often driven past this one -
And if you're worried about preserving nature read this and look at how many birds are being killed by them -
