This is the weather forcast for Wales on Friday the 8th June, the day my two friends and I decided to climb up Mount Snowdon for charity. For reference when it shows the map with the rain fall indicated Mount Snowdon is North West quite close to Bangor (at least we saw a sign for Bangor when we were driving up there, my geography is not that brilliant )

Regardless of countless weather warnings and the fact that the experienced climber that was supposed to join us bowed out because of them we made the decision on Friday to climb anyway. In our defence when we reached the bottom of the mountain there was only a light drizzle and no wind, however by the time we reached over half way up all the threats we had been warned of came to pass but by that time we had reached the point of no return.

So off we went. The first 1,000 feet were actually quite pleasant, at that level the pathway we were following was fairly level with only small inclines to climb. After that it got much, much steeper and there were points when we were scrambling over rocks using hands and feet (thank god for a decent pair of walking boots) I was actually quite scared at some points and it was only grit and determination that actually made me complete the climb, that and the knowledge that I had to survive to come home for my children. But we made it to the top where the cup of tea we drank was quite possibly the best one I've ever had

I attach a couple of photo's so you know I'm not just spinning you all a yarn but please bear in mind that the weather was not conducive to the wonderous views that I know Snowdon is capable of, that and the fact that after a couple of hours I was just too cold and tired to click the shutter and the rain nearly ruined my camera lol!

It was an experience I shall never forget and never repeat but I'm glad I did it as it will raise much needed money for the Jack in the Box nursery's out door music centre. If anyone is so impressed with my achievement that they would like to donate now I shall gratefully receive their money
