I believe however in transparency and meritocracy, and the idea of joining the local group of petit bourgeois worthies pompously acting out ritualised silly-buggery before smugly sitting down to a second class lunch wallowing in their own superciliousness leaves me cold. I get plenty of opportunity to do that at Fort Whitfield!
BTW. How's your handicap?
Bob, I'm surprised you've resorted to absurd generalisations, 4 million men and women regularly play golf in the UK, I'm sure they're not all a "sort of person."
Likewise freemasons, I've never been involved and have no wish to but I know dozens who are and they enjoy themselves whilst raising money for good causes.
Its actually the antithesis of local government, they create misery and spend other people's money.
PS, my handicap is 3
