Very true Annie, but when turnouts at elections reach no where near 50% it suggests the majority really don't care and just want to get on with their lives. Compulsory voting with a none of the above box, is my preferred route. How else can we get the apathetic to show some interest? Without them nothing will change.

As someone who did not vote in the latest lot of elections I do not think it is solely apathy any longer.

I chose to abstain because there was no point in voting for the same old lot that stand time after time that in no way really care about the area they hopefully live in. Plus I refuse to vote simply for a party as locally that is not what the local elections should be about, I suspect that many of those who turn out are voting for party and do not even know the name of who they voted for.
