Mark - yes, these are our thoughts also, amongst others (full list on the DWMP website, at the URL above). We are not convinced by this idea as it stands, and I'm fearful that some people may even deem it offensive to the memory of those they lost.
It's my opinion that there should be much greater consultation before such an idea is considered.
However, the Events Committee have imposed a deadline of 3rd April for responses (in writing), and state that if they receive none, they will assume that people "will be happy with the decision on an apparatus being made and fixed in front of the War Memorial Statue".
so - over to you all, and to Dovorians everywhere, across the globe. Do you like the idea of this sign, or not? If you do, you need do nothing - but if you don't like this idea, or have qualms about it, then the Events Committee need to be made aware.
