  Fun and very colourful. I doubt if the real French army looked like that though as they would have been covered in mud, filth and grime after months of being on campaign and undertaking a siege. I expect the foot soldiers clothes would have been brown, battered and filthy!

  on again tomorrow up at our castle, the big punch up starts at 3.30 following the council of war at 3.00.

  By all rights, the French soldiers will have to enact undermining a tower, which will have to give the impression of falling apart.
  Through this breach - and over the rubble - French soldiers will hen stumble, to be confronted by the English garrison.
  
  While this battle goes on in front of the Keep, other English soldiers will have to rip down the roofs of all the buildings and shops and rush with planks of wood to close up the breach.

  i do hope you are wrong alex after all the money that english heritage have spent on the great tower and the admiralty look out it would be sad to see them spend out on repairs.

  What happened, Howard, is that all the housing where the English soldiers had their quarters, placed around the keep, and the stables, were ripped down to mend the collapsed tower, which was part of the outer defences.
  I think it was called the Barbican tower, the one which collapsed.
