    It is frustrating - when I managed a charity shop in nineteen-o-spit we had the same problem; times don't change that much. "Families" would come in with kids clutching various distracting things like greasy hot sausages, sticky lollies etc etc etc, and they were, at that time, made up, yes, of immigrant families but mainly of local indigenous "rough" families who often came to us direct from the dole office as was. The smell doesn't change though.........made up of unwashed bodies and clothes, it still takes me back.....
