Beware there are a lot of scammers like this.
Sometimes they spend quite some time with their cold-calls each time coming away with a little snippet of personal information. All very friendly and legitimate sounding. Eventually, months or in one case even over a year later, they are calling asking about your sick grandmother or pet dog, discussing the results of your favourite football team etc. This way they gain trust. Eventually they present a particulary 'hot' opportunity, people decide to give these 'nice' people a chance and your money is gone.....
I know of one such company operating out of Florida fortunately one of their victims was quick off the mark and got them arrested. The 'sting' backfired.
