    My first thought was along the same lines as Jan and BarryW, but I have heard the comments now, and actually they were said in a derogatory way so are offensive. Regardless of whether they targeted women or any other group of people, the casual assumption of stereotypes and the rather dismissive and aggressive tone changed the context for me.
