Just a thought, I bet if this was about the men's game this great result would have been mentioned straight away.
An extra well done to Tammy Beaumont.

In fairness Jan It was featured on the 10 o'clock news in detail last night and on radio 2 as it happened and the Kent online article is time stamped 07.00 this morning.
Not what I would consider sexism.

I thought it was very well covered and deservedly so, for example on BBC 5 Live.
Back AND front page news in some papers also I understand.

I should have been clearer with my wording, I meant on this forum but it was to late to edit.
Yes the media have given a lot of well deserved coverage.

Ah. Cricket in Dover is sadly dead. No Dover Cc, not a single club side playing in the town, although Cosmos and River CCs are still going. Go into Sports Direct and look at the cricket section - derisory
When I have a game in the garden with my nephew I wonder if we are the only people anywhere in the town putting bat to ball all weekend.
For that matter - I saw zero games of tennis going on but some boys kicking a ball around on a court DURING WIMBLEDON at Russell Gardens.
And where is the municipal golf course? Not even a single putting course in town AFAIK.
If people play sport at all it is likely to be football, all year round.

I remember the times when I had to make a packed lunch for my cricket loving husband so he could watch Kent play at Crabble.
Cricket was unfortunately forgotten or should that be fell out of favour with so many when BBC TV lost out to high paying Sky.

And the relevance to the debate on the demise of the sport in Dover is...?

I could also add what about the relevance to the lack of interest by some (should that be majority) of the male members of this forum to this great cricket result by the women.
If it was the dreaded male dominated football that is often on the tv at least one member would have been rather vocal, something else our women seem to be rather good at.

I don't see any sexism involved when our male cricketers won the Ashes there was no mention on here I believe and when I started a thread during Wimbledon about us having quarter finalists in both the singles there were no posts.

It's a case of football über alles In Dover. And I say that as a Dover Athletic fan.
Probably as Howard says more to do with the sad decline of Dover cricket. And tennis. And golf...

I don't see any sexism either - I watch the sporting events I want to watch and the layout of the athletes' internal plumbing is a matter for them, not me. Er, except that I have to say that we are enjoying the women's Euro football very much and can heartily recommend it. Still, it's not because of the players' gender, but because of their entertaining skill.

Absolutely. I normally have no interest in 'sport' but was mesmerised by the skills shown in women's beach volleyball in the Olympics.

Yeah, and some people like 'art' for similar reasons. But there seems a welcome dearth of prima donnas in the Euros.
