My Wifes' Grandfather Ernest Marsh was awarded the B.E.M. for rescuing people from the bombed and burning Burlington Hotel which once stood on the seafront.
He never talked about the war and consequently we know very little about the circumstances in which the medal was awarded.
I wondered whether anybody has any knowledge of what he actually did. I would have liked to have put a picture of the medal on the forum but alas my knowledge of computers is very limited.
