  The simplistic thinking Howard comes from the left in trying to tackle the problems they see through tax and spend. Every time they do it they not only fail in their objectives but also make things worse. Every single Labour government has left office after creating an economic calamity. The 'left' of course does not only mean Labour but all their fellow travellers too. The fact is the left are blind to the damage their policies do and frankly don't care, without keeping people poor and dependant up the state they will lose any reason for their being.
  
  The Conservatives by contrast have an electoral vested interest in more and more people being self-reliant, independent and better off. I know what I prefer and what works best for people and it certainly is not being dependant on an all-powerful but bankrupt state.
  
  Keith - one day maybe you will find the words to be able to defend your position rather than just stir things up.
