the blues announced today that if they are elected the surgeries of our administers of mercy will be open 7 days a week 12 hours a day.
sounds great, but will that wash with the stethoscope brigade?
they have all cancelled the saturday morning bit over the last few years.
don't get me wrong, i want see a quack that is awake and alert, not overworked, i just think that they will not swallow this medicine.
However- it is long overdue that GPs, doctors, whatever, recognise that they are offering a service and not a benevolent grace, and get with the need to evidence good practice and meet service needs.
Doctors in practice will be able to adjust to the new directive, if it happens. Howver, the old school family GP working in isolation wioll probably bite the dust. Not sure that is a bad thing to be honest. I have a choice of three quacks and am happy with each of them. Being open 7 days a week may help to spread the workload too.
