  shoplifting is pretty rife, most goes unseen and the security guard mostly to deter and to stop the known pro shoplifters. They will take anything, even seen them stealing empty dvd cases so they can trade a game in as boxed. Most pro shoplifters will steal to a shopping list, and they will steal £100's if not £1000's in a day of goods. A lot of stores wont see what they have lost until a stock take. you will see it in supermarkets where people eat the food and then leave it on shelves.
