all for making as much money as possible april to september
nice to see the seafront full of campers in the summer with the owners walking along the seafront spending money in the restaurants ------- will start at easter with the journeys to somewhere in euroland
will go along seafront in next 2 days and see how many cars parked opposite gateway flats will guess under 5

The camper van issue does come along, like the Swallows to Capistrano, with calls for toilets and fresh water outlets. It is a pity that a piece of land near the front could not be fitted-out to cater for such visitors. With parking charges at a minimum with an eye to the broader local economy benefits.

I think we carried an item recently that said the seafront parking charges were in fact going UP Ron ( as mentioned there by JHG )...so little chance of them hitting the all day 50p mark...and no , parking charges were not suspended for the memorial garden ceremony. Not as far as I can tell, all looked normal, there were no bays cordoned off or whathaveyou.

...but Ron, I have read here that few 'want' folk cooking etc. along the promenade. I did say "near the sea front". Tut-tutting is unlikely to persuade many who desist their public ablutions to avail themselves of the selection of eateries you mention. Although those sea-front diners will already be tolerant of casual dress and (*) children.

DDC have just approved new parking restrictions and charges for the seafront. Despite objectors being in the majority following ‘consultation’ the scheme was approved with The Board recommending the scheme, as advertised, be brought into effect.
Inter alia the changes will ban motor homes and camper vans during the day along a stretch of the seafront and impose a £10 charge for those vehicles if they park ‘overnight’ from 6pm.
Details appear on DDC website at page 54 if anyone is interested in ploughing through it.

Unless, of course, they are from the traveling 'community', who park for free wherever they like, any charge being on local Council Tax payers to clear up after them!
