DFDS and LD Lines have made a generous offer of three Euros for SeaFrance.
Proposal is to lose the SeaFrance Moliere and reduce employees to 450.

I suspect that (ahem) any buyer at the price will have to assume the accumulated debts of SF.

sounds like s.n.c.f have had enough, hat does it mean in terms of job losses.
we know that 450 will remain, but out of how many?
are any likely to go this side?

Methinks we have a bout of French Union action coming up-the odd port blockade or barrier of blazing British exports. Whatever happens they are bound to baulk at the prospect of French job losses, especially at the hands of a foreign purchaser. I guess it will be worth enduring while the new bosses dump a couple of the SNCF vessels in a move of expediency. Could put the whole Dover Straits operation in a more competitive light.
Never give up...

it would be sad to see a good ferry company go down hill, but the sign of the times dosent look good.but would be a one ferry comany with no competion and ferry price hikes from the remaning company/s.
richard,a blockade wouldnt be to bad,at least it might kick start the goverments on both sides of the channel.

SeaFrance management propose to dispense with the freighter Nord Pas de Calais and retain Rodin, Berlioz and Moliere in an attempt to reduce the amount of subsidy required from SNCF and avert bankruptcy if the EU prohibit a further major bail out from SNCF.

The French union CFDT has its own workers co-operative plan.

DFDS and LD propose to take on the Rodin, Berlioz and Nord Pas de Calais, and dispense with the Moliere. Plan is to run the Nord Pas de Calais to Dunkerque in addition to the three DFDS ferries, with the Rodin and Berlioz to Calais. They are offering one Euro for each ship, hence the offer of 3 Euros for the company and its liabilities.

what are the odds of a workers co-operative taking over then they still go on strike?

I am sure the French union would not be daft enough to strike against itself.

I can see them mounting a blockade of Calais but still letting their own boats in and out.
