  I saw this earlier but as Jack says what is it for, looks like Dover Express has gone weird again with no write up. Was it their Christmas bash last night.
  
  Poor pictures but it looks like a Spitfire type plane, not something I associate with peace or WW!.

  The unveiling was Monday evening, Port of Dover took out a full page in last weeks express about it, inviting anyone to attend (phone and book your place) but most people will have flicked past it as the page looked like all the other port adverts that talk about achievements etc. They had three full pages in last weeks!
  Beautiful sculpture and well worth a trip to see it.

  A truly amazing event, very well organised and a spectacular sculpture. Wonderful Christmas carol singing and humbling readings. The speeches were just right too and appropriately not over the top. A very uplifting evening for the community. Something Dover should be really proud off.
  A clear conscience is the sure sign of a bad memory.

  I still fail to see the link between Peace and a fighter plane but never mind it is very good sculpture.

  It was the spitfire that played a huge part in stopping the German advance, with out it peace may have come quicker but we'd all be speaking German. I agree though it is not perhaps the best symbol of peace but that's art for you!
