    I do not remember having a day off school either even though I had a bus ride and what would now be called a long walk. I do remember frozen hands from playing snowballs or building snowmen.

    I also went to work whenever there was snow or ice but back then pavements and roads seemed to be cleared and gritted more than they are now.
