  Absolutely not trying to defend the indefensible!! I am not sure which of my points has been blown away......I think all governments of all colours in recent years have been guilty of neglect and extreme control in equal measures without ever coming near to getting it right. I have no doubt that the next government will do the same. Our political life has taken a downward turn ever since we started aping the Americans and their brand of personality politics and reducing our respect for intellect and integrity in politics.
