10:1686749Is it just me or are the sales a bit disappointing this year? I trudged around our local shopping centre for much of yesterday and came home with two tops and some Christmas cards. I did much better online. Glutton for punishment I'm trying another large shopping centre today to see if I fair any better.

10:4086753I hate shopping at the best of times and for me the sales would be pure hell.

10:4286756Sales are a cynical ploy by retailers to get people to spend money they can't really afford on things they don't really need. They used to be a good way of shifting seasonal lines cheaply before the next lot came in. Nowadays shops pile the shelves with stuff bought in just for the sales.

18:0286791Retailers, like any other business, need to make a sale, otherwise they'd have to close; reducing their profit margin in sales should help increase their sales/transactions.

18:5586798Actually Roger, that's the way it used to work. Now they sell any old cheap tat at good margins during the sales.

20:0886802Way back in the 1960's Harrods of Knightbridge used to buy in china for their sales so it is not a new thing.

23:0686809I didnt buy anything in for my sale at all
but i know some companies do, and I can understand that, they dont want to disappoint consumers and at the same time dont want to take less than ticket price for certain goods
think there are only about 4 wedding dresses in my store that arent in the sale, 10 prom dresses and 25 bridesmaid dresses as they are new stock and i am not allowed to by the manufacturer.. but that aint bad!!!
If you saw the amount of dresses I do have, then you would see thats really not a lot!!
