Might be unsubstantiated but I hear that Sainsburys are re-opening in the High Street, just a rumour but wonder if anyone else has heard. Anybody know who owns the building?

that has been going around for a month or so now, work has been ongoing to the roof.
as far as i know sainsbury's have not officially confirmed anything.
Sainsburys have just put this building up for auction as they still own it

thanks for info alan, rather surprising that they are spending money on it.
usually the properties at auction are there because the owners do not want to spend anything on them.

As they have their own builders who might have had nothing planned the much needed repairs would not have cost that much in relative terms, only the materials.
The cost of the roof would have been huge for any business buying such a large space.

I noticed all the lights were on inside when I walked past on Tuesday, I don't know if that's significant. I'll have another look today.

According to one of the workmen it is going to be a 99p shop, who knows.
Looking on the net I could not find it for sale via auction.
