Met him briefly once when he spoke with a group of my students, he was respected by all who met him or heard him play.

Indeed. He was a credit to every service he participated in, and let's not forget they have one every day of the year. One occasion sticks in my mind. It was when all the petals of previously used poppies fell from above, inside Menin Gate, as the Last Post was played. It literally gave me goosebumps. Respect to him for the many years of dedicated service and all others who share their time so willingly for this wonderful kind of service. I hope to attend again , for the Passchendaele Memorial service. I am sure he will be remembered. Sleep well Antoon and RIP
