The bomb dispoal experts have declared the area now safe and the Police cordon taken down, but there are around 3 miles of queues both ends - apparantly.

Port of Dover closed in car alertThe Port of Dover was closed after concerns were raised over items inside a car, police said.
Bomb disposal experts were called to the scene and a 400m (440 yard) cordon was set up around the port.
Kent Police said the car was stopped as it was heading to the area for a "War and Peace" show - believed to be a family event.
Ferries were held out at sea for a period but started re-using the port, one at a time, said Dover Harbour Board.
The A20 was closed in both directions at the A2 (Jubilee Way), and police said they were expecting traffic congestion in the area for some time.
Been nice knowing you :)
Are these people for real?? hope they get done for wasting police time

Well it made a change the police were in attendance at the Western Heights roundabout.
Rather than moving the vehicles blocking the roundabout to allow residents of Aycliffe to enter the estate they sent us on a 10 mile detour.
Million-to-one chances crop up nine times out of ten.

Yes it did look odd last night...no ferries at all in the Port and the traffic stagnated and in full sleep mode. Twas a dark and grim night. Drivers knew they had no prospect of moving but didnt know why, so settled in for the long wait. A long line of trucks wound its way into the distance...I was wondering how the guys keep warm on a cold night? Normally engines have to run to keep the heat flowing. No engines running.
Then two hours later the streets were completely deserted, completely deserted, hardly a car or truck to be seen.
