The (sadly) cynical view from the public that these consultations are a con and the decisions are already made, create a self-fullfilling prophesy - no one turns up to give their views or opinions, so the people doing the consultation thinks no one cares anyway, so they'll do what they want.

If the public have a view, the public must give it; they are given the opportunity to put their ideas forward, so it really is the right time to give that view.

I can appreciate the reasons for the cynicism, but you can't grumble if you never say what you want.

I think that Vic's posting, number 73 is spot on - get off your bum if you have a view or opinion, or send it via email or letter if you can't get out for any reason.

I also appreciate than many working people may not be able to attend, either because of work commitments or plain worn-out after a hard-day's work.
