Marek was interested to see that you noted the editorial difference needed between the OPEN pages and the Letters Club. Its very true and you are quite right, with open pages we have to be very cautious and a level of editorial control is needed there. The open pages are raw, even I dont have an edit button but do have a delete button, and thats the way I wanted it when we started and still like it that way.Its very fresh that way...but we are entirely prone to the possibility of spammers, pornographers, and worse. But so far its working quite well with many responsible postings and thats great to see. Above all the pages are open to all.

In the Letters Club we are all old pros and require no moderation of any kind which suits me greatly and allows me to get on with the next bit of magazine editorial.

It is though very important that the comments on those front pages are responsible or we end up like the BBC inundated with complaints as those pages are seen widely..ermm if not quite on the scale of the BBC.

So far the BBC have had 27,000 complaints about the 'orrible duo of Brand and Ross. I dont think these guys are ever quite as popular as the BBC would have you think.
