    This should be a world class visitor attraction getting the sort of visitor numbers that the castle gets, unfortunately what we have is a jaded, dusty 1960's academic attraction in a shabby pundshop shed with little to recommend it to visitors.

    Whose fault is this?

    The blame needs to be shared between Phelps, his trustees & DDC.

    Having said that it is something that could and should be saved, but I suspect at this juncture this is only possible if Phelps is no longer involved and a funder can be found to put in somewhere in the region of £5-10m to conserve & restore the murals, install high quality environmental controls in a purpose built building & provide a high quality interactive experience possibly also including part or all of the bathhouse.
