Here is my latest newsletter, sent out this morning.

Hope you are able to support the Marathon runners in their efforts to raise money for the disadvantaged.

I can't post the Dover War Memorial Project's latest Newsletter, but if anyone would like a copy of it , please email me and I'll send it to you; similarly the Charity Fund-raising Race-Night info.

Hope you are all able to get to the Prince Albert for the Abandoned Dover exhibition. I've seen some of the images and the frames, all hand-made and they are fantastic and at the end of the exhibition, you can buy the pictures (and frames).

    Here's the newsletter:

    "Good Morning

Dover Marathon runner Margaret Reidy is asking for your support in helping her raise much needed funds for the charity she have chosen to run for in the London Marathon on the 17th April 2011.
If you wish to sponsor her you can either click on the link below and donate direct to the charity, or if you prefer not to do it this way, just email her on res@number1guesthouse.co.uk and she will let you know how you can give her your money !

PLEASE CAN I ASK YOU TO TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK AT THIS PAGE, IT WILL SHOW YOU ALL, HOW IMPORTANT THIS IS TO MARGARET.

Thank you in advance for your support - it takes an awful lot of hard-work to train and run in the marathon, please donate what you can.

The other Dover Marathon Lady, is Dover Forumite Claire Jones (I'm sure there must be others) - I sent an email about Claire's Marathon and her fund- raising a little while ago, but here is news of her Charity Race Night:

Claire has a (marathon) running mate, Heather Keen, who is also raising funds for a worthy charity - The MS Society.

They have jointly organised a race night for 30th April and all proceeds will be split equally between the MS Society and Children with Leukaemia.
I have attached the poster for that which has been checked for viruses, so is safe to download; please do take a look at the poster, it will be a great night and raise funds for two very worthy causes.

    Abandoned Dover

You may remember I sent round an email about Abandoned Dover a few weeks ago, well, it's this coming weekend

The Abandoned Dover photo exhibition at the Prince Albert, starts this weekend April 9th for the duration of the Easter break school holidays.

The official opening by the Mayor of Dover will take place on Monday 11th April at 1200hrs.
Please feel free to invite your friends and colleagues and share in the opening of the event at the Prince Albert pub in Biggin Street. Full details are here www.urbandecay.me

The photographs on show depict various parts of Dover and the surrounding district that lie hidden or forgotten to the public eye. Many played a vital role in the protection of our town during various wars and now lay in silent memory to those who fought so courageously.

Recently we discovered a large set of hidden vaults right within the town centre and hope to be able to show the pictures in time for the event. Research into what they were used for has so far provided very little information! ...

All the photographs have been framed in items which people have "abandoned" . We have sourced frames from Charity Shops, Skips and some have been made from driftwood washed up on the beaches surrounding Dover. There will also be a number of local Dover items on show that have been dug up from local Victorian rubbish tips!

Abandoned, in decay, claimed back by Mother Nature, there is so much in this town that lies forgotten.

Look forward to seeing you at the exhibition.

Kind Regards and have a good week-end.
