Hope that goes well for them as it is all a very good cause indeed.
Here is a picture from their reasonably recent open day where all we met were very nice indeed...
All girls together. Karen Tranter third from left is head honcho there.

I hope they do well as it is normally run entirely by the shop staff they usually manage to raise well over £1000 for the centre

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Better not be too late Howard they tend to start closing things down at about 2.00pm, if you have your reporter hat on please remember Margaret who organises it all.

A short grey haired very slim 80year old who will either be bustling round or looking exhausted depending how smoothly everything has gone.

I recognise two of the ladies wearing blue tabards in the bottom picture. The lady in the background far right is Nicola who has been at the shop for at least eight years as she was there when I started. The other lady chatting to the lady in pink is Rita who has been with the shop for about five years. That looks a bit like Bob Newman in the top picture along with Mary holding up the jumper another of the long term shop volunteers.

thanks for info jan, rather surprised that there were no signs outside to tell passer bys that something was going on inside, nothing close by either.
ken was online here this week and didn't mention it either.
good to see ronnie being as committed to the centre as when she was mayor.

Howard, they normally have an A board at the side of the town hall with someone giving out toys to the passing children, possibly short of shop volunteers at the moment, sadly Riverside staff do not tend to get involved.

The Jumble Sale is purely a much appreciated fund raising event under the control of the shop, the Centre staff if asked do give a hand to set it up. All the food is baked and cooked by the chefs at the centre on a voluntary basis and at least one centre volunteer was in attendance. It is very difficult to ask staff and volunteers to give of their time having already given it to entertain 66 of Dovers' elderly on the occassion of The Queen's jubillee earlier in the week.
Having said that I know that everything the shop do is very much appreciated by the Centre.

Things must have changed since I left as previously the majority of Riverside staff did not help unless pushed and it is a FAIR with new items not a jumble sale as Ken states.
