some lessons are never learned, the worst off being targeted and already councils are preparing themselves for non payment.

Perhaps the best thing to do would be to increase the Allowances and wages of Councillors and Council staff to compensate them for having to deal with these proposed changes. After all, none of us can expect to get something for nothing.

good idea philip, any money saved could then be invested in a series of equality and diversity officers.

Bit different this one Tom as it is to do with the £2.5m lottery fund the "countryside" has received and is probably funded by the grant !

At the meeting with the D.D.C. only last week.Mr Watkins was there to,we were told that even the poor will pay some of their council tax about 3% + some will pay more,But the OAPS will not have to,which is good for us old ones, but can we put the blame of this on the DDC at this time,I must say I would find it hard to do that, like us all, they have had their funding cut alot over the pass two or more years,There are ways and things that could be done to make up the short fall, but it would have to come from Goverment and one major one is to stop paying out funding to all the outsiders that come to the UK put nothing in the pot but take a hell of alot out of it.But as they will not do that we all have to pay more, and that goes for councils to,so we can not blame the D,D,C, on this one, they have a gun at their heads to.One thing that could be done and only the public of Dover could do it,is get rid of the Town council,I am not saying that they do not work or play apart because they do. But the saving would be a big one, over £600.000 per year, but if that did happen I would like to see their very good staff given new jobs. Also some of the parish councils could be rolled into one, none of them are moves we would like to see,but we live in times that any saving is the right move, same as all the paintings etc that are locked away never see day light,we are told they are there for a rainy day well it is raining very hard now so sell them. And the gold,as long as it all stays in the UK it will still be here. But as always it is only the way I think if you disagree please tell me but do not be rude about it. Thank you Vic Matcham

New ``Poll Tax``blow for UK`s poor.
Millions of low income households face a rise in their Council Tax bills costing them £ 600 pa
from April under ``Poll Tax bombshell``
With this Government the poor get a kicking and the rich are passengers.
Tensions rise in Cabinet as Ministers press for deeper cuts to Welfare.
Hammond,Gove and Theresa May are pushing for more welfare cuts.
How brazen can they be ?

Well whilst many have argued for more fairness
and to stop the widening of the gap between rich and poor
the conservatives are clear where they come from on this.
On the role of councils in general, I believe in decisions being made as local as possible, we have to many councils
so my view would be to do away with KCC and escalate these works down through the districts/town councils.
Of course whilst mr watkins will argue its mr pickles not giving enough money to local councils, he is correct
but we should remember is part of the Conservative govt. pushing all this through

I believe Vic it is 6% not 3 % and the rest of what you say is just total drivel.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!
